Waitlist & Selection Process

The first step in welcoming a puppy from our program is completing our formal screening application. This helps us understand your lifestyle, experience, and specific preferences. Once your application is approved and you are added to our waitlist, you will receive exclusive litter announcements and availability updates before they are released to the general public.

Our Placement Philosophy: We do not follow a "pick of the litter" or deposit-order selection model. Instead, we utilize professional temperament testing at seven weeks of age to match each puppy with the ideal home. While we make every effort to honor color and gender preferences, our primary goal is a successful, lifelong partnership between the puppy’s temperament and the family's needs.

Reservations: Deposits are typically accepted only after a litter is born. Upon birth, both parties will execute a formal, legally binding contract and the buyer will place a deposit to secure a position within that specific litter.

Whelping & Developmental Program

Our program is centered on the belief that the first eight weeks of a puppy’s life are the most critical for their future success as service, therapy, or high-level companion dogs.

Phase 1: The Neonatal Period (Days 1–13)

Focus: Survival, Growth, and Neurological Foundations

  • Day 1–2: Monitoring & Recovery: Constant 24-hour supervision to ensure all puppies are nursing successfully and the dam is recovering well.

  • Days 3–16: The ENS/ESI Window: * Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS): Five specific exercises (tactile, head up, head down, supine, and thermal) to "stress" the neurological system, improving heart rate, stress tolerance, and immune function.

    • Early Scent Introduction (ESI): Daily introduction to distinct scents (e.g., lavender, earth, pine, leather) to map olfactory pathways and identify early aptitude for medical alert or detection work.

  • Daily Health Maintenance: Puppies are weighed twice daily to ensure consistent growth. Bedding is changed multiple times per day to maintain a sterile, professional whelping environment.

Phase 2: The Transitional Period (Days 14–20)

Focus: Sensory Awakening

  • Eyes & Ears Open: As puppies begin to see and hear, we introduce very low-level "white noise" and soft music to prevent startle reflexes from becoming permanent fears.

  • Mobility: Puppies begin to move away from the sleeping area to eliminate, signaling the very beginning of "clean den" instincts and future house training.

  • Worming Protocol: Initial preventative deworming begins per veterinary standards.

Phase 3: Awareness & Socialization (Weeks 3–4)

Focus: Environmental Interaction & Nutritional Transition

  • Day 21: The "Rule of 7's" Begins: We start introducing puppies to 7 new surfaces, 7 new toys, and 7 new people by the time they are 8 weeks old.

  • Nutritional Transition: Introduction of high-quality "gruel" (rehydrated professional kibble) to supplement nursing.

  • Grooming Foundation: Bi-weekly nail trims begin to desensitize them.

  • Early Potty Training: A designated "potty zone" is added to the weaning area to reinforce potty training; they naturally desire clean bedding and toys.

Phase 4: Expansion & Exploration (Weeks 5–6)

Focus: Confidence Building & Problem Solving

  • Environmental Enrichment: Introduction of "Adventure Box" items—tunnels, wobbling boards, and hanging toys—to build core strength and spatial awareness.

  • Crate Conditioning: Puppies begin eating individual meals inside open crates to create a positive association with confinement.

  • Working Foundations: Introduction to "bumpers" and soft feathers to encourage natural retrieving instincts and soft-mouth carriage.

  • The "Scary" Sounds: Exposure to vacuum cleaners, blender noise, and recordings of thunderstorms or sirens at controlled volumes.

Phase 5: Evaluation & Placement (Weeks 7–8)

Focus: Professional Assessment & Transition

  • Day 49: Temperament Testing: Using standardized protocols to evaluate social attraction, following, restraint, and sound/sight sensitivity.

  • Final Matching: Data from ESI (Scent), ENS, daily observations, and temperament tests are used to pair puppies with their specific trainers or families.

  • Veterinary Clearance: Final health exams, first vaccinations, and microchipping are completed.

  • Final Readiness: Puppies spend short periods away from littermates to build independence and prevent separation anxiety before heading to their new homes.
