Investment and Pricing Transparency

We are frequently asked about the investment required for a puppy from our program. Our pricing reflects the significant resources, expertise, and high standards involved in producing bench-bred Labrador Retrievers. We specialize in sound, conformationally correct dogs with stable temperaments, specifically curated to serve as high-level service and therapy dog prospects, as well as outstanding family pets.

Our Pricing Structure

  • Limited Registration: Pricing currently stands at $3,000.

  • Consistency: We do not adjust pricing based on coat color or gender. We believe every puppy in a litter is of equal value, having been produced with the same rigorous care and genetic selection.

  • Value Over Time: We do not discount puppies that remain with us past eight weeks. On the contrary, their value often increases as they receive continued professional instruction in house training, crate conditioning, basic obedience, and socialization within our home.

Commitment to Breed Integrity

We adhere strictly to the AKC Breed Standard. We prioritize health and ethics above all else:

  • No Dilutes: We do not breed for, nor do we recognize, "fad" or "rare" colors (such as charcoal, silver, or champagne). These are not naturally occurring in the breed and often indicate the introduction of outside breeds or underlying health issues. We exclusively produce Black, Yellow, and Chocolate Labradors.

  • Selective Breeding: We only utilize fully health-tested, proven, and titled stud dogs to ensure we are constantly improving the breed rather than simply reproducing it.

Contract and Health Guarantees

Every puppy is placed with a formal contract designed to protect the buyer, the breeder, and most importantly, the dog.

  • Health Guarantees: We provide a comprehensive three-part guarantee covering an initial 48-hour wellness window, hip/elbow certifications, and genetic health clearances.

  • Lifetime Support: Our contract explicitly prohibits any dog from our program from being surrendered to a shelter or rescue. We maintain a lifetime "return-to-breeder" policy; if a buyer’s circumstances change, the dog must return to us. We are a resource for the life of every dog we produce.

Full Registration

Full registration is granted only in exceptional circumstances. We do not sell puppies with full breeding rights to the general public; this is a privilege reserved for established, ethical programs that share our commitment to the improvement of the breed.

The Financial Investment of Ethical Breeding

Producing a single litter of high-potential, health-tested Labrador Retrievers is an immense undertaking. For those curious about the "why" behind our pricing, we believe in full transparency regarding the costs associated with a maiden bitch's first litter.

1. The Foundation: Acquisition & Health Clearances

Before a breeding is even considered, we invest years into the dam.

  • Acquisition of a Breeding Prospect: $4,500 – $9,000 (depending on age and pedigree).

  • Comprehensive Health Screening: Minimum $1,500. In the DFW area, this includes OFA Hips/Elbows (Radiographs), annual OFA Eye Clearances (CAER), Advanced Cardiac (Echo), and full Genetic/DNA panels (EIC, HNPK, CNM, PRA-prcd, etc.).

  • Competition & Titling: To prove the dam's temperament and conformation, we travel to AKC events. A single weekend of showing in Texas typically averages $800 when factoring in entry fees, travel, grooming supplies, and handler fees.

2. The Breeding Process: Science & Logistics

We do not leave our pairings to chance. We utilize advanced reproductive technology to ensure the best possible outcome.

  • Stud Fees: $2,500 – $5,000 for a fully titled, health-tested sire.

  • Progesterone Tracking: Essential for timing. In DFW, these tests average $110–$130 each. A typical maiden bitch requires 5–8 tests: $750 – $1,000.

  • Insemination (AI/TCI): We utilize Transcervical Insemination (TCI) for higher success rates. Between semen shipping, veterinary procedure fees, and multiple disposables, this costs roughly $1,200.

  • Pregnancy Confirmation: Ultrasound (Day 30) and Puppy Count Radiographs (Day 57): $600.

3. Equipment & Specialized Care

Raising puppies in a home environment requires a significant "NICU-style" setup.

  • Whelping Infrastructure: $2,500+. This includes a professional whelping box, climate-controlled heating systems, stethoscopes, medical-grade disinfectants, and high-volume laundry/sanitation supplies.

  • Developmental Curriculum (ENS/ESI/Rule of 7s): $1,200. We invest heavily in specialized toys, textures, scent kits, and "Adventure Box" equipment to stimulate neurological growth.

  • Nutritional Support: High-calorie performance food for the dam and premium weaning diets for the litter: $500 – $700.

4. Veterinary Care & Placement

  • Pediatric Care: At 8 weeks, the litter receives comprehensive exams, initial vaccinations, bi-weekly deworming, and fecal screenings. For a standard litter, this averages $1,500 – $2,000.

  • Go-Home Kits: We provide prepaid AKC registrations, microchips, starter food, and scented transition blankets: $600.

5. Contingency & Emergency Fund

Ethical breeding requires a "safety net." An emergency C-section at a DFW 24-hour ER (such as VCA or MedVet) now starts at $4,500 – $6,000. We must always be prepared for the financial risk of losing a litter or, more importantly, our beloved dam.

The Reality of Professional Breeding: An Investment in Excellence

When totaling the acquisition of the dam, two years of maintenance, titling, health clearances, and the specialized raising of the first litter, the initial investment to bring a maiden bitch’s puppies to their new homes often exceeds $28,000.

To put this in perspective, with an average litter size of 6 to 8 puppies and a placement fee of $3,000 per puppy, the gross revenue for a first litter ranges from $18,000 to $24,000. Even with a successful first season, an ethical program typically operates at a net loss of $4,000 to $10,000 once the foundational costs of the dam are accounted for.

Because each subsequent breeding carries its own recurring costs- including stud fees, specialized reproductive veterinary care, progesterone tracking, high-performance nutrition, and pediatric medical exams- it realistically takes two to three successful litters just to reach a "break-even" point for a single female's place in the program. And consider, we are only breeding our females about 4 times before retiring, depending on how well they whelp and recover.

Summary of Investment

When totaling the acquisition of the dam, two years of maintenance, titling, health clearances, and the specialized raising of the puppies, the cost to bring a maiden's first litter to their new homes often exceeds $28,000.

This breakdown does not account for the thousands of hours of labor—24/7 whelping watch, socialization, and training. We pour our lives into these dogs because we believe the world needs stable, healthy service and therapy companions.
